DECKED OUT FOR WELLBEING

As we approach the festive season and the start of a New Year the looming guilt of over indulgence has already begun, but rather than yoyo between guilt and taking part in social occasions, this year I plan to enjoy all that it brings and to de-stress and detox with spa activities in the new year. When it comes to luxuriating in wellbeing, spas truly soothe the soul and with the growing emphasis in wellbeing experiences witnessed in recent years it comes as no surprise that we are seeing more and more dedicated spa areas on board superyachts. Owners are no longer content with staterooms that can convert to massage areas; they now dedicate expansive spaces outfitted to match the facilities of some of the best spas on dry land. Whether you are a spa-traveller who seeks to indulge in new and different experiences, or, like me, more of a spa-goer looking to incorporate your long-term fitness regime while travelling, rest assured you can enjoy every level of spa experience on board the following yachts.

Yacht of legends, the 77.4m (253’) Legend has plenty of space to accommodate all manner of luxurious facilities on board to keep everyone entertained be they cruising in the extremes of Antarctica or the crystal clear waters of the Arctic. From her 16-person superyacht spa pool with waterfall out on deck to her Balinese themed spa with sauna, Jacuzzi and beauty salon on the lower deck, she is a haven of floating luxury. For the active guests she also has a gymnasium and countless toys to keep them entertained.

We all know that life on the ocean waves can be seriously decadent, but whether you are looking for occasional pampering treatments or a full-time, on board fitness and nutrition programme, the 69.6m (228’5) Sherakhan is, in my experience, the perfect yacht on which to optimise your health. One of the first superyachts to include its own dedicated spa area and gymnasium, where guests can follow a work out with a sauna or steam, or a dip in the spa pool, followed by a treatment in the dedicated beauty salon. For more social occasions her large Jacuzzi on the sun deck accommodates an impressive 18 guests.

If you want an element of health and beauty on board, you can select a few treatments and have some gentle exercise incorporated into your holiday on board the 63m (207’) Lady Britt. After warming up in her Finnish sauna jump directly into the cool sea, or indulge in a massage with a qualified Elemis therapist in the wellness area after a workout in the gymnasium with panoramic views onto the large spa pool on the sundeck.

Just like any world-class spa, the 99.06m (325’) Christina O is a haven of floating wellbeing. She has double and single treatment room, with a menu akin to those found in the world’s top spas, and even a hair salon. If you fancy a change of scene and prefer to be surrounded by the serene environment of the ocean you can have your treatment gazing out to sea on deck, or in the decadent Onassis Suite.

Among her many attributes (think outdoor cinema and nightclub with a DJ deck, indoor/outdoor gym, full dive centre…. the list goes on and on) the 85.1m (279’2) Solandge, which acquired a new Owner earlier this year, has one of the best spas to be found on board any superyacht; and it’s a chromotherapy spa at that (colour therapy). Featuring a sauna, hammam, massage room and beauty salon, along with a gymnasium that connects to the outdoor swimming pool (that’s a pool… not a Jacuzzi), she offers everything you could possibly need to unwind.
